WESTBURY, NY — A new indoor rock climbing gym is coming to Long Island.
Gravity Vault signed a 10-year lease to build a gym in a 18,119-square-foot, second-floor space at Samanea New York, formerly known as Source Mall, at 1500 Old Country Rd. in Westbury, Samanea announced Wednesday. The gym is the company’s second on Long Island.
The Samanea gym will feature more than 300 climbing routes, with some featuring 45-foot-high walls, as well as a cardio and fitness area, climbing training specific apparatus and a retail store. The Samanea gym will have double the amount of bouldering terrain than the Gravity Vault gym in Melville.
“We are very excited to expand our presence on Long Island with our second facility,” Mark Davidson, president of Gravity Vault, said in a statement. “The community’s response to our first location in Melville, which opened in 2017, was tremendous, and now we are thrilled to bring our world-class indoor rock climbing to Nassau County and Western Long Island, at Samanea New York.”
Colliers International, Samanea’s broker in New York, represented both the tenant and the landlord, Lesso Mall Development, in the deal.
“We are very excited to welcome this exciting, nationally recognized destination to our growing roster of lifestyle and entertainment tenants,” Dominic Coluccio, Samanea New York’s chief leasing and development officer, said in a statement. “With the popularity of indoor rock climbing continuing to grow, I’m confident that people of all ages will fully enjoy Gravity Vault, whether it be for recreational or professional climbing.”
