NAPERVILLE, IL — A Chicago man faces multiple felony charges after police say he stabbed another man with a screwdriver at a gym in Naperville in Early June.
Allen G. White, of the 5000 block of South Loomis, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, burglary and possession of burglary tools in connection with the June 5 stabbing.
Police say White was going through a man’s possessions in the locker room at the gym in the 3000 block of South Route 59 when the man confronted him. White is accused of using a screwdriver to stab the man in the chest before fleeing the scene.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. As of July 23, authorities say he is expected to recover fully.
White was arrested July 16 and has been in custody at Will County Jail since his arrest.
“This was an extremely violent attack, and we’re relieved that the victim was not more seriously injured or killed,” Naperville Police Department Deputy Chief Bob Lee said in a news release.
Lee added, “I would like to recognize our detectives, whose outstanding investigative work led to the identification of the offender and a solid case against him.”
