LeBron James has tried proving to the world that he is the greatest player in the history of basketball for the last few years. While there is a conversation to be had, many people still pick Michael Jordan over LeBron because of the differences in their accomplishments.
MJ has a 6-0 record in the NBA Finals compared to LeBron's 4-6 while also having won more scoring titles and a defensive player of the year, among other achievements. However, LeBron's longevity is unmatched, and his playing ability has always been considered a level above everyone else's.
One of Jordan's old rivals, Bill Laimbeer of the Detroit Pistons, has said that he believes LeBron James is the greatest player of all time over MJ.
"I am very vocal, I think LeBron is the best player to ever play this game. He's 6'8", 285 pounds, runs like the wind, jumps out of the gym, and most importantly, when he came into the league, from day one, he knew how to get his teammates involved. Jordan had to learn that for a long time. When you talk about championships, Michael Jordan has more championships but I think LeBron, in any generation, would be doing what he is doing right now. I firmly believe he is the best basketball player in the history of the game."
MJ and Laimbeer have history against each other with the clashes between Jordan's Bulls and Laimbeer's Pistons during the late '80s and early '90s. While the Pistons won championships before MJ's ascension, MJ was unstoppable when the calendar turned to 1991.
LeBron has had a great career, and he is going to continue working towards adding to the list of accolades he has earned. Becoming the all-time scoring leader in league history will help his case, but LeBron will need more championships in his career to have a chance at being considered better than MJ universally.
