Plymouth police have charged a 43-year-old local man in connection with a road rage incident on Route 6 in June 2022. Police said the driver drew a handgun while his 9-year-old relative was in the truck during the incident.
PLYMOUTH — A local man has been accused of pulling a gun during a June road rage incident while a 9-year-old child was in his car, police say.
Floyd Morey, 43, was charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace, Plymouth police said in a statement Monday. He was released on $5,000 bond and is due to appear in state Superior Court in New Britain on Oct. 11.
Police said a 9-year-old child was in Morey’s vehicle at the time the incident occurred.
On June 13, Plymouth police responded to a road rage incident, the department said. Police said the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck in a “burnt” orange color made an illegal turn on to Main Street from Carter Road, nearly striking another vehicle.
The other driver yelled at the pickup truck driver, who then pulled a handgun and pointed it at the other person, police said.
Police said Morey was identified as the driver “with the assistance of the public, via Facebook.”
Morey had a valid firearm permit, according to police, and a 9-year-old relative was present in the truck.
The case has been referred to the state Department of Children and Families, police said.
